Barry Glanzer, a stylish and quick point guard, started three years and lettered all four years (1978-82) during his brilliant basketball career at South Dakota.

The former South Dakota "Mr. Basketball" in 1978 was a two-time all-North Central Conference performer. In 103 games at South Dakota, he hit 469-975 field goals (48 percent), 242-299 free throws (81 percent), had 239 rebounds, 566 assists and a total of 1,180 points. He averaged 18.6 points and 5.7 assists as a senior (1981-82) when he led the conference in scoring with a 21.4 average. As a junior he ran away with the league assist title (78) and league free throw shooting crown (86.7 percent). He capped a strong junior year by scoring 42 points in a home win over Nebraska-Omaha. That total was the highest single game total over the previous decade and is the fourth best ever in Coyote history. A two-time all-state performer from Armour High School, Glanzer earned conference NCC Player of the Week award twice. As a sophomore he set a school record with 182 assists. He is a teacher and coach in Louisville, Neb.
