Bill Gassen, a native of Rapid City, S.D., was a talented two-sport athlete at USD. He was an All-American nose guard for the Coyote football team in 2002, when he recorded 22.5 tackles for loss, a single-season record. He was an all-conference selection his senior year and still holds the school record for tackles for loss with 50.5. He was a two-time Academic all-North Central Conference honoree as well. Gassen was also a three-time NCC champion in the shot put for the Coyote men's track and field team. He earned his bachelor's degree from USD in 2004 and his law degree from USD in 2008. Bill lives in Sioux Falls with his wife, Jill, and daughter, Victoria, and works as corporate counsel for Sanford Health.
