Bobby Lyon has been assistant professor in the USD Health Physical Education Recreation Department for 36 years and will retire following the completion of the 1981 school year. Lyon was a pioneer in the women's physical education field at USD, organizing the women's intramural program through the USD Women's Recreation Association. She was co-organizer of the first USD Physical Education Club for women and co-organizer of the first state Girls Athletic Association for high school girls in South Dakota. Lyon, a native of St. Louis, MO, established the first state Board of Women Officials in South Dakota and is a past recipient of an honor award for service in the South Dakota State Association of Physical Education.
