Chuck Welke, a native of Warner, S.D., enjoyed a stellar playing career for the Coyote men's basketball team in the 1990s. Chuck is one of 20 players to surpass 1,000 points and 500 rebounds for his career, and he ranks seventh in school history with 75 blocked shots. After averaging 16.4 points and 8.8 rebounds per game in 1998 he was picked to the North Central Conference first-team. Chuck was also a three-time Academic all-conference selection. A 1998 graduate of USD, Chuck earned his degree in psychology and criminal justice and later earned a master's degree and PhD from USD. Chuck and his wife, Kara, live in Grand Forks with their three children, Jada, Jasmine and William, where Chuck works as a psychologist at assessment and therapy associates.
