Clyde Absher was one of the top quarter-milers in South Dakota school history. A 1923 graduate of USD, Absher competed with the Millette Athletic Club of Detroit in the Canadian National Exposition in 1925 at Toronto, and the team defeated McGill University team by 30 yards. The McGill team had represented Canada in the 1924 Olympics. The next day, Absher went back to Detroit and won the 440 at the Michigan State Fair. A retired accountant Absher now lives in Downers Grove, Ill.
