Dwight Duncombe, a native of Miami, FL, was one of the most successful and flamboyant wide receivers in South Dakota football history. Duncombe was a two-time all-North Central Conference split end who earned all-American honors in 1974. One of the best all-around athletes to ever play as USD, Duncombe notched an all-time record for all-purpose yards with 3,482. Known for his cartwheels and back flips in the end zone following a touchdown, Duncombe averaged a record 22.8 yards per catch for his career and set career marks for receptions (87), yards receiving (1,987), and touchdown catches (16).
