Harry McFrye is generally considered one of the greatest centers in South Dakota football history. McFrye, who was named all-North Central Conference in 1923, also was noted for his "iron-man" performance of never missing a game in eight years of high school and collegiate competition. McFrye was mentioned on Walter Camps' All-American squad during his Coyote days. The 1927 graduate of USD's law school, McFrye practiced briefly in his hometown, Sioux Falls, before joining the International Harvester Company. He served in managerial capacities with the company for 36 years throughout the Midwest before retiring in 1964.
