Jim Chamberlain, a native of White River, SD, and 13 teammates on the 1957-58 University of South Dakota national small college championship basketball team, was inducted into the Coyote Sports Hall of Fame in a special ceremony in 1980. Chamberlain was a two-time all-state selction at White River, SD, High School, leading his team to the South Dakota Class B basketball tournament championship. He was one of the six sophomore members of the USD championship team. Chamberlain was co-captain and a center on the 1959-60 Coyote basketball team, leading the team in scoring with a 13.9 scoring average, and earning all-North Central Conference honors. He finished his career 18th on the Coyotes' career rebounding list.
