Joe Lundsgaard was an outstanding football player and remains of the most loyal and dedicated Coyote supporters. A top lineman in the mid 1950s for the Coyotes, he served as captain for head coach Harry Gamage's last Coyote football team in 1955. Lundsgaard, who earned a bachelor of science degree in business administration from USD in 1956, is a farmer-cattle fetter and land developer in Cherokee, Iowa, and is active in several community organizations. Lundsgaard is a member of the USD Foundation Board Lundsgaard along with other Cherokee businessmen have funded a scholarship to USD for a student from Washington High School in Cherokee, IA.
