John Divine, a native of Valparaiso, NE, ranks as one fo teh finest middle guards in school history. Divine, who played for the Coyotes from 1969-73, was a leader of a stingy Coyote defense. Divine was an honorable mention all-American at middle guard. He was a three year starter who paced a USD defense that ranked second in the conference in total defense, allowing only 268 yards per game in 1972. Twice (1971, 1972), Divine was accorded all-North Central Conference status.
