Katie Dailey was a member of the South Dakota women's basketball team from 1981-85. A three-time all-North Central Conference selection, Dailey played with an enthusiasm that spread to the other players and her great court sense made her teammates only better. Described as the player who made the Coyotes go, Dailey finished her collegiate career holding six school records, including assists in a game (16), assists in a season (212), career assists (665), steals in a game (8), steals in a season (103), and career steals (304). Dailey who was also the starting shortstop on the Coyotes softball team, was the conference assist champion three times. Winning was a habit for Dailey as she had the rare distinction of never playing on a losing basketball team. Dating back to her sophomore year at Jefferson High School, she was a member of three consecutive Class B championship teams. Dailey won 82 percent of the games she played in with 155 wins and only 34 losses.
