Ken Andree, a native of Watertown, SD, was a two-sport star for South Dakota. He lettered in both football and track for the Coyotes from 1949 to 1951. He won the 120-yard high hurdles during the North Central Conference meet in both 1950 (15.5) and 1951 (15.7). During his track career at USD, Andree set a meet record in the 120 high hurdles at the Corn Palace and Sioux City Relays as well as the USD Invitational. After receiving his Master's Degree from USD in 1955, Andree went on to a distinguished coaching career in the high school ranks. Called the most successful high school football coach in history of Nevada, Andree compiled a 93-21-2 record in 10 years at Boulder City, Nevada, while coaching his squad to six state football titles, two runner-up berths and a co-state championship from 1957-1966. He was also head track coach for seven years with two teams winning state track titles.
