Larry Hanson, a Vermillion native, earned seven letters at USD and was an all-North Central Conference football player in 1932. After coaching at various places in South Dakota, Hanson moved to Los Angeles, CA, and, from 1947-73, his basketball teams at Jefferson High School won 801 games while losing just 36 times. His overall career record, including stops in Aberdeen, Gettysburg, and Alexandria, S.D., was a remarkable 1,034-64, a 94.1 win-loss percentage.
