Maurice Clancy was a two-sport standout at South Dakota in the mid 1920s. Clancy was the captain and a back on the 1927 Coyote football team, coached by Vincent Montgomery, which won the North Central Conference. Clancy's play helped the Coyotes roll to 7-2 record and a perfect 5-0 conference mark in 1927. Clancy lettered four years as a member of the Coyote football team. He also lettered on the 1923 basketball squad and was a standout performer on the USD rifle team from 1924-26. A native of Aberdeen, SD, he lived in Sante Fe, NM, until his death in 1974.
