Former assistant coach Dick Hagerty and the 1957-58 championship team was inducted into the Coyote Sports Hall of Fame in a special ceremony in 1980. He assisted Dwane Clodfelter when South Dakota rolled to a 22-5 record, culminating with a 75-53 win over St. Michaels of Vermont in the MNA small collge championship at Evansville, IN. After playing three years of varsity basketball at USD, he assisted Clodfelter with varisty coaching for two years while working toward a master's degree. He has practiced law in Yankton since 1967 and has served as legal counsel for the South Dakota High School Activities Association.
