Longtime South Dakota trainer Rob Williams will be remembered for his commitment and caring for South Dakota student athletes. Williams became USD's first full-time trainer and physical therapist in 1966 after serving seven years as chief physical therapist at McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. Williams, who was a four-spot standout at Hastings College, earned his certificate in physical therapy from the Mayo Clinic. Williams resigned as the Coyote trainer in 1986 to become a fulltime physical therapist at Dakota Hospital in Vermillion. Williams, who was inducted into the North Central Conference Hall of Fame in 1986, also received the USD Distinguished Service Award during the 1976 Dakota Day homecoming festivities.
