Stanley and twin brother, Sterlin Clark, were standouts on South Dakota track and field teams that dominated the North Central Conference in the early to mid-1920s. He helped South Dakota win the first ever NCC title in 1922. In fact South Dakota won the NCC track championship in 1923, 1925, and 1926. He practiced law at Tripp, SD, from 1927-39 before serving with the U.S. Army from 1940-45. When he returned from the Army, he practiced law with his father, S.W. Clark at Redfield, SD, until 1950. From 1951-60 he was Selective Service Director for the state of South Dakota attaining the rank of colonel.
