SIOUX FALLS – South Dakota sophomore
Zachary Kopp has been named the Summit League Men's Swimmer of the Year after voting from the league's head coaches.
Kopp, from Otsego, Minnesota, won five titles at the Summit League Championships, two individual and three relays while being named Men's Swimmer of the Championships.
Kopp becomes the first swimmer from South Dakota to win this honor.
He became the first Coyote to win two individual titles at the Summit Championships when he swam to victory in the 50 free (20.40) and 100 back (49.52).
His time of 49.52 in the 100 back moved him to second all-time on the Coyote Top 10 chart.
He anchored the 200 medley relay, with a 19.85 50 free split, to a Summit League title in a new school record 1:29.43.
He provided the lead-off leg on a title-winning 200 free relay that also broke the school record with a 1:19.89.
He closed his championships by starting the victorious 400 free relay with a 45.06 100 free split for a foursome that clocked 3:00.10.
