The University of South Dakota Head Football Coach John Austin has announced that the Coyotes will hold their first-ever football scrimmage in Sioux Falls on Friday, April 28. The scrimmage, sponsored by the Pizza Ranch, begins at 5:45 p.m. at O'Gorman High School's McEneany Field in Sioux Falls.
Several area media personalities and civic-minded community members will serve as honorary coaches including Kathie Brown of the Multiple Sclerosis Society, Brian Hansen of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Jim Cheesman of the Sioux Falls Argus Leader, Jon Wilson of KELO-TV, Scott Collins and Jay Williams of KIKN and Hot 104 Radio, Mark Ovenden of KDLT-TV, and Eric Thorstensen of KSFY-TV.
"I am honored to have this distinguished group on the sidelines at McEneany Field on Friday to lead the Coyotes in a game-like situation," said Austin, noting the coaches' roles will include game day decision-making and enthusiastic support. "We invite the Sioux Falls area community to take part in this exciting event and we very much appreciate the support," he said.
According to Austin, the coaches will be divided evenly into two groups and a head coach will be designated at a meeting prior to game-time. Preceding the scrimmage, the Coyote coaching staff will sponsor a K-6 football camp at 5 p.m. The half-hour camp will be free for Sioux Falls-area youth.
