Abrams, Olson named volleyball NCC honorable mention

VERMILLION, S.D. (November 12, 2001) -- Junior Amber Abrams (Rapid City, S.D.) and sophomore Becky Olson (Norfolk, Neb.) of The University of South Dakota women's volleyball team (7-19, 4-14 NCC) were named all-North Central Conference honorable mention, according to an announcement today (November 12) by the conference office.

Abrams ended the season with 340 kills (3.62 kpg) off 890 attacks for a .254 hitting percentage. Her 3.62 kills per game was rated fifth in the NCC and her mark of 340 total kills is sixth on the all-time season charts. Abrams, a physical therapy and psychology major, played in all 94 games in the 26 matches this season and recorded 143 digs and 39 total blocks. Abrams is fourth on the all-time career kills charts with 900 career kills and the attack charts with 2,492. She is the daughter of Donna and Larry Abrams.

Olson finished her season averaging 2.68 kills and 3.18 digs per game, and led the team in service aces (36) and digs (296). Her totals include 249 kills of 716 attacks for a .193 hitting percentage, along with seven block solos and 35 block assists. Olson, enrolled in general studies, is the daughter of Tom and Val Olson.
