DENVER, COLO. - Regis (1-0) used a 24-0 run early in the game and took a 83-50 win over the South Dakota women's basketball team (1-1) in nonconference action on Tuesday at Denver, Colo.

South Dakota, which shot 53 percent and scored 87 points against Mesa State on Monday night, had trouble making baskets against Regis. Freshman Ashley Robinette (South Sioux City, Neb.) had 10 points for USD, which was led in scoring by Vanessa Yanez (Wagner, S.D.) with 14 points. Jenni Flynn (South Sioux City, Neb.) added eight points. USD hit just 36 percent from the field and only 20 percent (4-of-20) from three point range. After South Dakota scored the first basket of the game on a Yanez basket, Regis took control of the game. The Rangers went on a 24-0 run and grabbed a 30-4 lead midway through the opening half. Later, Regis took a 33-6 lead with about eight minutes to play in the first half. USD outscored Regis, 17-10, over the remainder of the half to trail 43-23 at halftime.
