VERMILLION, S.D. -- Jenni Flynn led three players in double figures as the 24th-ranked South Dakota Women's Basketball Team (7-2) took a 76-61 nonconference win over Northern State (6-4) at the DakotaDome on Saturday night.

South Dakota utilized a 25-10 run over the final 9:24 of the game to defeat Northern State for the fourth straight time.

Flynn. a sophomore from South Sioux City, Neb., led all scorers with 18 points, hitting 6-of-10 field goals, including 2-of-5 from three-point range and all four of her free throws. She also had three rebounds and two steals. Junior point guard Meghan Woster of Sioux Falls, S.D., also hit double figures for USD with 15 points. She also had eight assists, four rebounds, four blocked shots and two steals. Also for USD, Brittany Bessert, a junior from Fort Collins, Colo., had 12 points, seven rebounds, three assists and two blocked shots. Freshman Janielle Bryan of Bellevue, Neb., added eight points while senior Kayla Jacobs of Watertown, S.D., junior Vanessa Yanez of Wagner, S.D., and freshman Ashley Robinette of South Sioux City, Neb., all chipped in with seven points.

Northern State was led by Liza Sizer with 15 points.

USD jumped in front early (10-6) after Robinette converted a three-point play at the 14:49 mark. NSU rallied with a 9-5 run to take a 15-14 lead at the 10:19 mark. From that point, USD responded with a 14-5 run and led 29-19 with 3:40 to play in the opening half. In the back and forth first half, NSU closed on a 12-2 run to tie South Dakota at the break (31-31).

NSU, which hit eight of its first 12 three-point baskets and finished the game by making 9-of-20 long distance shots for 45 percent, took a 45-40 lead with 14:09 to play after Ali Chmielewski made a three-point basket. Chmielewski finished with 14 points, including 4-of-6 from three point range. The Coyotes fought back to a 49-49 tie at the 11:18 mark, following a layup by Yanez off an assist from Woster.

After the teams traded baskets, it was the Coyotes who took charge of the game. A jumper by Woster gave USD a 53-51 and keyed a 25-10 run by USD over the last 9:24 of the game. Bessert's three-point shot at the 5:13 mark gave USD a 64-54 lead. After Northern State cut the lead to 64-58 at the four minute mark, USD used a 10-0 run to take a 74-58 with 1:17 to play.

A key difference in the game was USD's domination in points off turnovers (20 to 8) and points in the paint (34 to 10). While USD had just eight turnovers, NSU was forced into 18 turnovers. NSU won the rebounding battle, 36-28.

Overall, USD hit 24-of-52 field goals for 46.2 percent, including 7-of-21 for 33.3 percent from three-point range. USD hit 13-of-16 free throws for 81.3 percent.

NSU made 19-of-52 field goals for 36.5 percent and made 14-of-16 free throws for 87.5 percent. Michelle Hanson also hit double figures for the Wolves with 10 points.]
