USD Volleyball Downs Lake Superior State

CROOKSTON, MINN.: The University of South Dakota cruised to a 3-0 victory over Lake Superior State University on Saturday morning at the Golden Eagle Classic in Crookston, Minn.

The Coyotes won by scores of 25-15, 25-15 and 25-13 and finished the game with a .320 hitting percentage while holding the Lakers to a .090 hitting percentage.

USD improves to 7-0 overall while Lake Superior State is now 1-2 on the season.

Leading USD on offense was Kathleen Hruska (Sr., RS, Sioux Falls, S.D.) with 12 kills and a .571 hitting percentage as she had zero errors on 21 attacks. Kristin Kritenbrink (So., OH, Gretna, Neb.) was second on the team with 10 kills.

Gina Baldwin (RJr., S, Mitchell, S.D.) split time in the setter spot with Jolene Slagter (RSo., S, Roseville, Minn.) as Baldwin recorded 18 set assists and Slagter had 14.

Amber Kobus (Sr., L, Columbus, Neb.) led the defense with 13 digs. Kobus is nine digs away from breaking the school record for career digs. The previous record is held by Lindsey Soukup (2001-04).

USD will play it final game on the tournament today at 4 p.m. against the University of Minnesota Crookston.
