Former Coyote Stamer Signs Contract With Cleveland Browns

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Josh Stamer, a former standout on The University of South Dakota football team, has signed a free-agent contract with the Cleveland Browns.

Stamer , a veteran linebacker, signed the contract Wednesday. The Browns will play host to the Ravens at 7:30 p.m. Monday night in Cleveland (the game will be televised on ESPN's Monday Night Football).

Injuries have hit the Browns' linebacking corps hard, as D'Qwell Jackson and Eric Barton have both been lost with season-ending injuries. Stamer's addition will provide veteran experience to that group.

Stamer was released by the Tennessee Titans on Sept. 5 after spending the 2008 season with the Titans. He has appeared in 86 games in his seven-year NFL career, with five of those seasons being spent with the Buffalo Bills.

Stamer was a two-time All-North Central Conference pick at USD and holds both bachelor and master's degrees from the U.

Stamer is one of two former Coyotes in the NFL currently, joining Stefan Logan, a kick returner for the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Browns will face the Steelers in Cleveland on Dec. 10.
