The University of South Dakota women's soccer team, 8-0 in action Friday night in Omaha, Neb.
The Coyotes fell to 0-2 on the season with the loss.
Creighton (2-0-1), which was picked to finish third in the Missouri Valley Conference preseason coaches poll, controlled play in the first half. The Bluejays had an 18-2 edge in shots and converted four of those into goals.
Annemarie Hengel scored Creighton's first two goals, with Kyla Hoskins and Laura Nasseri adding goals for the Bluejays. In the second half, three straight goals by Brittney Neumann extended the Bluejay lead to 7-0 and Creighton added a goal later to make it 8-0.
Katie Quinones (Jr., Rochester, Minn.) led USD with four shots. Erin Bello (RFr., Fort Collins, Colo.) and Rachel Greene (Fr., Onalaska, Wis.) also had shots. Jennifer Ogren (Jr., Raymore, Mo.)had seven saves in net in 39 minutes of action, while starter Taura Truba (So., Coaldal, Alberta, Canada) had six saves.
USD resumes action on Friday, Sept. 4 at North Dakota. Game time is 4 p.m. in Grand Forks, N.D. The two teams will meet at 1 p.m. on Sept. 6 in Vermillion, S.D. as well.
