Box Score VERMILLION, S.D. -- Elizabeth Woerle scored two goals to lead Drake to a 3-0 victory over The University of South Dakota women's soccer team in action Sunday afternoon in Vermillion, S.D.
Laura Moklestad also added a goal for the Bulldogs (2-2-2), who ended a two-game winning streak for the Coyotes (2-3).
Drake had a 23-10 edge in shots, but solid play in net by Jennifer Ogren (Jr., Raymore, Mo.) helped keep the Coyotes within striking distance. Ogren finished with eight saves, including a pair of diving saves that prevented goals.
Woerle's first goal put Drake up 1-0 at the 14:07 mark, and later in the half, Moklestad found the net to put the Bulldogs up 2-0. Drake had a 12-6 edge in shots in the opening frame.
Woerle's second goal came at the 63:41 mark and put Drake up, 3-0.
The Coyotes battled tough but were unable to find the net against Drake's Kourtney Arnold, who had five saves.
Michelle Marshall (Jr., West Des Moines, Iowa) had three shots in the game, while Katie Quinones (Jr., Rochester, Minn.) had two. Sarah Wheeler (Jr., Duluth, Minn.), Rheannon Hotvet (So., Savage, Minn.), Rachel Greene (Fr., Onalaska, Wis.), Erin Bello (RFr., Fort Collins, Colo.) and Katie Whithorn (Sr., Omaha, Neb.) each added a shot for USD.
The Coyotes resume action on Friday, Sept. 18 when they compete at Nebraska. The game begins at 5 p.m. in Lincoln, Neb., and is part of four straight road games for USD.
