Box Score GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- Junior Katie Quinones scored with 22 seconds left in double overtime to complete her hat trick and give the South Dakota women's soccer team a dramatic 3-2 victory over North Dakota on Friday in Grand Forks, N.D. The Coyotes claimed their first victory of the season to move to 1-2, while the Fighting Sioux dropped to 1-1.

UND found the back of the net first with a goal in the 29th minute, but Quinones (Rochester, Minn.) brought the USD offense to life midway through the second half. The midfielder notched a goal on an assist from Michelle Marshall (Jr., West Des Moines, Iowa) in the 60th minute, and then added another goal two minutes later, thanks to an assist by Hailie Meyer (Jr., Onalaska, Wis.).

The Fighting Sioux climbed back to even the game at two in the 83rd minute, but South Dakota took over in overtime. The Coyotes notched eight shots in the two extra frames, before Yutzil Rodriguez (Fr., Pierre, S.D.) assisted on Quinones' goal to finish the game in the 110th minute. Quinones finished with seven shots, directing five on goal, while earning her second career hat trick. Sarah Wheeler (Jr., Duluth, Minn.) and Rodriguez finished with five shots apiece. USD claimed 20 shots to North Dakota's 22, while each team committed 10 fouls.

South Dakota's defense, led by goalkeeper Jennifer Ogren, played just as well. Ogren (Jr., Raymore, Mo.) made nine saves on the day, including five in the first half, while the Coyote defense allowed just one North Dakota shot in the two overtime periods.

The Coyotes continue play on Sunday when they host North Dakota at the USD Soccer Field at 1 p.m. The visiting team has won each of the last three games between the two programs.
