Zwiefelhofer Notches Fourth GWC Accolade

Naperville, Ill. - South Dakota punter Cole Zwiefelhofer has been named the Great West Conference Special Teams Players of the Week, the league announced on Sunday. The weekly honor is the fourth this season for Zwiefelhofer, which is the most for any player in the GWC, and second in the last three weeks.

A native of Chippewa Falls, Wis., Zwiefelhofer continued to put on a show in Saturday's 34-6 USD win over Northern Colorado in the DakotaDome. The sophomore averaged 41.6 yards per kick on five punts for 208 yards, but more impressively placed all five punts inside UNC's 20-yard line. Three of the punts made it inside the 10-yard line, including one that was downed at the three. Zwiefelhofer did have one punt blocked in the third quarter but, since the ball hadn't crossed the line of scrimmage, he had the presence of mind to scoop up the ball and rush 15 yards for a first down. He has averaged 43.9 yards per punt this season to rank fifth in the FCS.

The Coyotes finish conference play by hosting Cal Poly on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 4:05 p.m. in the DakotaDome. Fans can purchase tickets by calling the USD Ticket Office at (605) 677-5959.
