Box Score HOUSTON, Texas -- Sophomore Erin Bello scored a goal to tie the game in the second half, but South Carolina State followed with three unanswered goals in a 4-1 win over the
South Dakota women's soccer team in the quarterfinals of the Great West Conference tournament Friday in Houston, Texas.
The Coyotes ended the season with a 4-12-2 mark, while South Carolina State, the top seed out of the GWC East Division, improved to 13-5-1.
Bello (Fort Collins, Colo.) scored her third goal of 2010 at the 58:09 mark to tie the game at 1-1. Freshman Afton Keiser (Sioux Falls, S.D.) and sophomore Rachel Greene (Onalaska, Wis.) assisted on the play.
The Coyotes were unable to stave off a three-goal flurry from SCSU as the Bulldogs scored three goals in a span of 9:01 to take a 4-1 lead, which was the final score.
Senior goalkeeper Jen Ogren (Raymore, Mo.), who will leave South Dakota as the all-time leader in career saves with 367, ended with four saves for the Coyotes.
Keiser led with two shots for South Dakota, which finished with nine for the game, including five on goal.
It was the final game for seven Coyote seniors: Ogren, Katie Quinones (Rochester, Minn.), Michelle Marshall (West Des Moines, Iowa), Erika Menning (George, Iowa), Savanna Lokkesmoe (Maple Grove, Minn.), Irma Reyes (Garden City, Kan.) and Sarah Wheeler (Duluth, Minn.). Quinones, Marshall and Wheeler each recorded shots in the game for USD.
