Box Score VERMILLION, S.D. -- The University of South Dakota women's soccer team was victorious in its home debut Friday, blanking the University of Missouri-Kansas City, 2-0 in nonconference play at the USD Soccer Field in Vermillion, S.D.
Freshman Jenny Teslow (Sioux Falls, S.D.) scored the first two goals of her collegiate career in the win for USD (1-1-1), while senior goalkeeper Jen Ogren (Raymore, Mo.) recorded her second career shutout to help keep UMKC off the board.
Friday's victory was the first head coaching win for USD's Mandy Green as well.
Teslow scored the game's first goal when she broke free and fired a shot past UMKC's Jami Finnell at the 18:06 mark of the first half, giving USD a 1-0 lead.
The Coyotes added to the lead minutes later, as senior Katie Quinones (Rochester, Minn.) set up Teslow on her second goal with the assist, putting the Coyotes up 2-0 with just over 26 minutes gone in the contest.
USD had a 10-8 edge in shots, including a 5-3 edge in shots on goal, in the first half.
The two teams played to an even second half but USD's two-goal first half was the difference. Ogren finished with 11 saves in the game and now has 35 in three games.
The Coyotes return to action Saturday, Sept. 4 at home against Indiana University-Purdue University-Indianapolis. Game time is 4 p.m. in Vermillion, S.D.
