Box Score VERMILLION, S.D. -- The University of South Dakota women's soccer team battled tough against Drake but fell short in a 1-0 defeat Thursday night in Des Moines, Iowa.
In the loss, senior goalkeeper Jen Ogren (Raymore, Mo.) became USD's all-time leader in career saves, breaking the old record held since 2006 by Candice Martinez (305). Ogren had six saves in Thursday's game and is now at 306 for her Coyote career.
USD (3-6-1) battled the Bulldogs (7-2-3) to a scoreless tie through the first 68 minutes before Drake's Generve Charles scored the game-winning goal to break the tie.
The Coyotes finished the game with seven shots, including four on goal. Freshman Laura Ekeren (Yankton, S.D.) and freshman Jenny Teslow (Sioux Falls, S.D.) each had two shots to lead USD, while freshman Taylor Henderson (Keller, Texas), senior Katie Quinones (Rochester, Minn.) and freshman Afton Keiser (Sioux Falls, S.D.) had one each. Henderson, Quinones, Keiser and Teslow had shots on goal.
The Coyotes continue on the road on Sunday, Oct. 3 at Northern Iowa. The game begins at 1 p.m. in Waterloo, Iowa.
