Kylee Willer scored her first collegiate goal, but the South Dakota women's soccer team fell to Southern Utah, 6-1, in Summit League action Thursday in Cedar City, Utah.
Willer (Fort Collins, Colo.) became the eighth different Coyote player to score a goal this season. Her goal in the 25th minute brought the Coyotes within 2-1 in the first half. However, Southern Utah followed with four unanswered goals to pull away.
The Coyotes did finish with 15 shots in the game, including nine on goal. Freshmen Jess Nieman (Rochester Hills, Mich.) and Rebecca Pederson (Waconia, Minn.) each had three shots, including two on goal. Junior Erin Bello (Fort Collins, Colo.) had three shots, including one on goal, while sophomore Jenny Teslow (Sioux Falls, S.D.) had two shots, including one on goal.
Freshman Kayla Wegman (Omaha, Neb.) played 47:57 in net and had two saves, while freshman Mackenzie Viktor (Fort Collins, Colo.) had five saves in 42:03 of action.
The Coyotes wrap up the 2011 season Saturday at Oral Roberts. Game time is 7 p.m. in Tulsa, Okla.
