Morgan Kayvan scored her second collegiate goal, but the South Dakota women's soccer team fell to Oakland, 4-1 in Summit League action Friday night in Rochester, Mich.
Oakland (4-8, 2-0 Summit League), the defending Summit League regular-season champions, broke open a 1-0 halftime lead with three second-half goals.
Kayvan (Keokuk, Iowa) scored the Coyotes' goal at the 84:46 mark after an assist from freshman Makena Cameron (Cheyenne, Wyo.). Cameron led the Coyotes with two shots, including one on goal, while junior Erin Bello (Fort Collins, Colo.), sophomore Jenny Teslow (Sioux Falls, S.D.) and freshman Lauren Bennett (Walton, Ky.) also had shots.
Freshman Mackenzie Viktor (Fort Collins, Colo.) had seven saves for the Coyotes, including two in the first half as she kept South Dakota within one goal.
South Dakota wraps up the weekend road trip with a game at Indiana-Purdue-Fort Wayne on Sunday. The game begins at noon Central time in Fort Wayne, Ind.
