A jumper in the lane by Taylor Dinges got the Lady Bluejays on the board with 10:51 left in the first half. After a bucket by freshman Lisa Loeffler (Maplewood, Minn.), Tabor's Katlyn Mary hit a triple for a 24-5 score with 10:17 remaining.
The Coyotes played a lot of players through the first 13 minutes as seven Coyotes scored during the 30-5 start. A nice steal and fast-break layup by Hegge put the Coyotes up 38-5 with less than four minutes remaining in the half.
The second triple of the game by Mary ended a seven-minute scoring drought for the Bluejays as they cut the deficit to 38-8 with 3:38 remaining. Olson countered with a pair of threes moments later for a 44-8 lead with under a minute remaining.
For the first half, the Coyotes held a 46-8 lead and shot 18-of-38 from the field for 47.4 percent. They were 3-of-10 from beyond the arc and 7-of-8 from the line. Hegge led the team with 10 points and five rebounds. In all, eight players scored in the half.
Tabor was held to 3 of 18 from the field for 16.7 percent. They were 2 of 8 from beyond the arc. Mary led the team with six points on two triples.
The Coyotes forced the Bluejays into 20 first-half turnovers leading to a 31-0 advantage in points off turnovers. South Dakota held a 28-0 lead in points in the paint and outrebounded Taber 22-14, including 11-4 on the offensive end leading to a 13-0 advantage in second chance points.
A 31-0 run by the Coyotes to start the second half swelled the lead to 77-8 with 10:45 left as the Coyotes rolled to the 78-point win, which tied for the largest margin of victory in school history.
The 16 points allowed were the fewest in school history as the previous fewest was 29 in an 80-29 win over Westmar during the 1984-85 season.
