VERMILLION, S.D. - Six Coyotes reached double-figure point totals and two recorded double-doubles as South Dakota topped Peru State 93-37 at the DakotaDome on Saturday night. It was the first time ever USD had six players score at least 10 points in a game.
Nicole Seekamp led USD (5-6) in scoring with 19, while Margaret McCloud and Alexis Yackley recorded the double-doubles. McCloud grabbed 19 rebounds and scored 11 points, while Alexis Yackley recorded 10 rebounds and 10 assists. Both players recorded season-highs in both stats.
Tempestt Wilson scored 16 points, Polly Harrington tallied 11 points, and Tia Hemiller and Sam Mehr both had 10 points. Lisa Loeffler also had a season-high with eight points. Those efforts were season-highs for Wilson, Hemiller, Mehr, and Loeffler.
The Bobcats (4-8) were led by Aduago Osuala with 11 points and Courtney Ward with 10 rebounds.
South Dakota never trailed in the game, and allowed only one tie early in the game (2-2). USD shot 50 percent from the field (39 of 78), doubled Peru State in points in the paint (52-26) and scored 27 fast break points.
On defense, the Coyotes held Peru State to just over 26 percent from the field (16 of 61) and forced 24 turnovers. USD converted those turnovers into 23 points.
South Dakota will next go on a western road trip, playing at Utah State on Dec. 20 at 1 p.m. and Boise State on Dec. 22 at 1 p.m.
