Coyote Golf Teams Wrap Up Action at SDSU Jackrabbit Invitational

VERMILLION, S.D. -- The South Dakota men's and women's golf teams concluded competition Tuesday at the Jackrabbit Invitational in Primm, Nev. The Coyote men finished 16th at 846 while the women were 13th at 1,016.

The 54-hole event was held at the Primm Valley Golf Club.

For the men, senior Lucas Turner (Bowdle, S.D.) was the top finisher for the men, tying for 37th overall with a final score of 224 (75-71-78). His 78 Tuesday was the Coyotes' low round of the day. Freshman Connor McDonagh-Poh (Holden, Mass.) was at 233 (76-77-80), while sophomore Nolan Schmidt (Avoca, Iowa) was at 234 (76-78-79) with senior John Vining (Sioux Falls, S.D.) finishing at 254 (83-86-85).

For the women, freshmen Stephanie Rodgers (Unadilla, Neb.) and Janice Baumberger (Indianapolis, Ind.) each finished in a tie for 48th at 252 to lead the way. Rodgers shot rounds of 85, 79 and 88 while Baumberger finished with rounds of 83, 84 and 85. Junior Nicole Funck (Dakota Dunes, S.D.) finished at 257 (84-83-90) while freshman Jordan Rearick (Omaha, Neb.) was at 258 (87-86-85). Freshman Kylie Gaughenbaugh (Canton, S.D.) was at 267 (94-84-89) to round out the Coyote lineup.

The Coyote men are back in action on March 26-27 at the Butler Spring Invitational in Indianapolis, Ind. The Coyote women resume action on April 2 and 3 at the Houston Baptist Husky Invitational in Missouri City, Texas.
