VERMILLION, S.D. - Are you ready for some football? The University of South Dakota head football coach Joe Glenn announced Friday the 2012 spring football schedule beginning Saturday, March 24th in Sioux City, Iowa, at Morningside College's Elwood Olsen Stadium and the time hasn't been set yet. The Coyotes will have 14 practices leading up to the annual red/white exhibition spring game set for April 21st at 1 p.m. in the DakotaDome. The annual red/white spring game is free and open to the public.

Following the practice on the 24th, the Coyotes return to Vermillion and will practice on the fields east of the DakotaDome (weather-permitting) beginning Mar. 26 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. South Dakota also will hold a practice in Sioux Falls, S.D., on Apr. 14 as the time has not yet been determined.

Glenn was hired in December as the 29th football coach in school history. He inherits a squad that finished 6-5 overall last season and 2-2 in the Great West Conference and was ranked as high as 14th nationally. The Coyotes move into the Missouri Valley Football Conference this season as a full-fledged FCS (Football Championship Subdivision) member and are eligible for the postseason.

In his initial recruiting class, Glenn and his staff inked 18 student-athletes, along with three junior college transfers and three walk-ons for a total of 24 National or Institutional Letters of Intent which were signed on National Signing Day Feb. 2, 2012. A number of the signees already have enrolled and are on campus for the spring semester.
