Idaho edges Coyote soccer in 2OT

MOSCOW, Idaho - The University of South Dakota soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to the University of Idaho in double overtime on Sunday to wrap up the opening weekend of its regular season.

Idaho's Chelsea Small scored the lone goal in the 104th minute during the second overtime period.

South Dakota goalkeeper Mackenzie Victor (Fort Collins, Colo.) had an active game with eight saves while facing down a Vandal offense that outshot the Coyotes 21-12. Idaho also held the edge in shots on goal, 9-5.

On the offensive side of the field, senior midfielder Erin Bello (Fort Collins, Colo.) led the South Dakota (0-2) attack with four shots. Bello and Taylor Nivala (Andover, Minn.) both had two shots on goal.

Jenny Teslow (Sioux Falls, S.D.) added another shot on goal on a pair of attempts.

South Dakota will return from their western road trip and have almost a week off before hosting North Dakota on Sunday. Game time is slated for 1 p.m.
