USD-Drake box score
DES MOINES, Iowa--Drake (5-2) netted the final two goals of the game to overcome an early deficit and beat South Dakota 2-1 at the Cownie Soccer Complex in Des Moines, Iowa.
Drake's Generve Charles scored the game's decisive goal ten minutes into the second half. Charles took a nice pass from teammate Ashlie Stokes and beat South Dakota keeper Abby Lindsay (Plymouth, Minn.) with a shot to the lower left corner.
Freshman Teagan Eberle (Schaumburg, Ill.) gave the Coyotes (1-4-1) an early lead with a goal off a give-and-go with Jenny Teslow (Sioux Falls, S.D.), but USD was unable to hold on. The Bulldogs tied the game when a foul in the box gave them a penalty kick with three seconds remaining in the first half. Kelsey Pigg calmly stepped up and knocked home the shot, knotting the score at one.
Lindsay (0-2-1) went the distance in goal for the Coyotes, recording five saves in the process. Eberle's goal was her second of the year, while the assist was Teslow's first.
The Coyotes will return to the field Sunday at noon against UW-Green Bay.
