AMES, Iowa—Iowa State jumped out to a two goal lead in the first half and added five more in the second on their way to a 7-0 victory at the Iowa State Soccer Complex in Ames.

Ashley Johnson had a career day for the Cyclones (8-4), scoring one goal and assisting on three others. Jennifer Dominguez netted her team-high seventh goal of the year.

Iowa State also got goals from Hayley Womack, Jessica Stewart, Emily Goldstein and Kaeli Flaska.

Jen Shaefer (Cary, N.C.) and Abby Lindsay (Plymouth, Minn.) played goalkeeper for the Coyotes (1-7-2). The two combined for eight saves.

“We didn’t compete as well as we could have and got outplayed in every way possible today,” said South Dakota head coach Mandy Green. “They are a good team and they made us pay for our mistakes. I hope this is a wake-up call and gets us better prepared to come out and compete for all 90 minutes heading into conference play.”

USD opens Summit League play Friday at IUPUI. Game time is 6 p.m.
