VERMILLION, S.D.--Megan Waytashek scored a game-high 18 points to lead South Dakota State to a 63-55 win against South Dakota in a contest featuring the top two teams in the Summit League Wednesday inside the DakotaDome. The Jackrabbits (16-6, 8-1) have won 10 of their last 11 while the Coyotes (11-11, 6-3) lost for the first time in five games.

The difference was South Dakota State's 20-2 run in the middle of the first half that turned a 15-9 deficit into a 29-17 lead. The Jacks took a 34-27 lead into halftime and did not trail the rest of the way. SDSU led by as many as 10 points and by as few as two in the second half.

Ashley Eide scored the first seven points of the Jacks' run and Waytashek added the next seven. Eide finished with 15 points on 5 of 17 shooting. SDSU shot 39 percent as a team (24 of 61).

Tempestt Wilson scored 15 points, Nicole Seekamp added 13 and Lisa Loeffler had 12 for the Coyotes. Seekamp hit three of USD's five 3-pointers. Point guard Alexis Yackley handed out 10 assists for the fourth time this season.

Loeffler hit two jumpers during an 8-0 run that got South Dakota within two, 45-43, at the midway point of the second half. SDSU point guard Gabrielle Boever ended the run with her second 3 of the game. She made two more buckets on the Jacks' next three offensive possessions and the lead was pushed back to seven, 52-45, with 6:36 remaining. Boever had 10 points.

Seekamp hit two 3's down the stretch including a long one with 24 seconds left that made it 59-55. Eide was fouled with 22 seconds left and made both free throws. SDSU was 10 of 15 from the stripe compared to 2 of 4 for USD. Leah Dietel's break-away layup with 10 seconds left sealed the win.

South Dakota returns to the DakotaDome Saturday to host North Dakota State (7-13, 3-5) in a 7 p.m. start. The Coyotes beat the Bison 73-52 in Fargo back on Jan. 3.
