Final Stats

AMES, Iowa - No. 18 Iowa State outscored the South Dakota women's basketball team 31-15 over the final 8 minutes, 30 seconds to top the Coyotes 88-72 on Wednesday night at Hilton Coliseum.

The Cyclones (2-0) shot 8-for-12 from the field, forced six South Dakota (1-2) turnovers and held the Coyotes to 4-for-11 shooting during that stretch. Before the run, the teams swapped the lead eight times and had six ties in the game.

Iowa State had three players score 18 points or more, with Hallie Christofferson leading the way with 25 points. Nikki Moody added 20 points while Brynn Williamson tallied 18 points. The Cyclones took advantage of their free throw opportunities, going 27-of-31 from the foul line while South Dakota was 8-for-11 from the line.

Nicole Seekamp led the Coyotes with 21 points and seven assists while Raeshel Contreras added 15 points. Margaret McCloud reached double-digit points for the first time this season with 10.

South Dakota was 10-for-19 from 3-point range and recorded a better shooting percentage than the Cyclones, with the teams shooting 47.4 percent and 43.5 percent respectively. The USD bench also outscored Iowa State's bench 32-11, but the Cyclones controlled the paint for a 40-22 advantage.

USD led by as many as seven in the first half but trailed 35-34 at halftime. South Dakota also led three times in the second, with its last lead being a 50-49 score off a layup by Seekamp with 14:37 left in the game. The Coyotes tied the game twice before Iowa State pulled away for the win.

USD will continue its road stretch with a matchup at North Dakota on Sunday at 2 p.m.
