BROOKINGS, S.D.—South Dakota and Nevada played to a scoreless tie Sunday on the final day of South Dakota State's Jackrabbit Invitational at Fishback Soccer Park. The Coyotes (3-1-2) had won their last three and are unbeaten in their last four.
USD goalkeeper Mackenzie Viktor made three saves. Her counterpart, Kelsey Quintos, made four for the Wolfpack (1-2-2 MW). Both were named to the Invitational's all-tournament team.
Both teams earned five corner kicks, but the defenses prevailed. Coyote sophomore Kasha Meyer stood out among the back line and earned all-tournament honors. She played 174 minutes in two games in Brookings. The Coyote defense allowed one goal and just eight shots on goal at the Invitational.
USD sophomore Rebecca Sparkman was the third Coyote named to the all-tournament team. She had the first of three Coyote goals scored in Friday's win against Northern Illinois.
South Dakota is in the midst of its longest road trip of the season. Friday's (Sept. 13) match at Creighton will be the Coyotes' fifth consecutive game played away from Vermillion. USD hosts College of St. Mary Sunday (Sept. 15) at 1 p.m.
