FORT WAYNE, Ind. –Haley Seibert scored 35 points while Amanda Hyde added 23 points to lead Fort Wayne over the South Dakota women's basketball team 96-78 on Saturday at the Gates Sports Center. The loss is South Dakota's (9-9, 0-3) third straight.
Seibert, who entered the game averaging 15 points per game, shot 12-for-18 from the field and was 7-of-12 from beyond the 3-point arc. Hyde, the Summit League's leading scorer at 23 points per game, scored 17 of her 23 points in the second half and Rachel Rinehart added 12 points to round out the Mastodons' (10-8, 3-1) double-digit scorers.
Fort Wayne finished the game on a 19-3 run over the last 4 minutes, 34 seconds, shooting 6-for-6 from the field and 4-for-4 from the charity stripe during that stretch. Over the game, the Mastodons held a 20-7 advantage in points off turnovers, committed just six turnovers and outscored the USD bench 25-12.
South Dakota's Polly Harrington recorded a career-high 24 points to lead Coyote scoring. Raeshel Contreras added 17 points, Tia Hemiller tallied 13 points and Lisa Loeffler was two rebounds shy of a double-double with 10 points and eight rebounds. Nicole Seekamp, USD's leading scorer, did not play for the third time in five games.
South Dakota led by as many as nine in the first half but trailed 44-43 at halftime. The Coyotes have given up an average of 89 points through the first three games of Summit League play.
The Coyote women will have their first league home game of the season on Thursday when they host Western Illinois at 7 p.m.
