LITTLE ROCK, Ark.--South Dakota fell to Arkansas-Little Rock 1-0 in their first loss of the season Sunday at Coleman Sports Complex in Little Rock. Arkansas-Little Rock senior Ariel Galletti broke a scoreless tie in the 64th minute to propel the Trojans past the Coyotes.
The Trojans (4-0-0) took home the Crowne Plaza Hotel Invitational trophy after winning today's match.
The one-goal loss ends the Coyotes' (3-1-0) three-game win streak, their best season opening since the transition to DI.
Both teams had five shots on goal. Junior Megan Anderson led South Dakota with two, while junior Taylor Nivala and seniors Shannon Keller and Kylee Willer had one apiece. Junior Mackenzie Viktor had four saves for the Coyotes, three coming in the second half.
South Dakota plays on the road again next weekend. The Coyotes face Grand Canyon on Friday at 9 p.m. CT in Phoenix, Ariz., and Northern Arizona on Sunday at 2 p.m. CT in Flagstaff, Ariz.
