MACOMB, Ill.—Western Illinois striker Emily Bollman scored the game-winner at the start of the second half as Western Illinois dropped South Dakota 1-0 at Mackenzie Alumni Field on Sunday afternoon.

South Dakota (1-11-1, 0-2 Summit) and Western Illinois (3-7-1, 1-1 Summit) remained scoreless through the first half.

Junior defender Katlin Ptacek and the Coyote back line fought off an initial attack as the second half started, but Western Illinois won the cleared ball and found the feet of Bollman in the 48th minute. Bollman ripped a shot from the right corner of the box and over South Dakota junior goalkeeper Sydney Hardin.

South Dakota led in shots 13-10 and corner kicks 6-1. Hardin grabbed five saves between the posts for the Coyotes.

The Coyotes host North Dakota State at First Bank & Trust Soccer Complex at 3 p.m. Friday to kick off a weekend full of Dakota Days athletic events.
