Golden Eagles' late comeback tops Coyotes 3-1

WS: ORU 3, USD 1

TULSA, Okla.—A trio of late Golden Eagle goals answered an early Coyote lead as Oral Roberts defeated South Dakota 3-1 at Case Soccer Complex Sunday afternoon.

Oral Roberts (9-9-1, 4-3-0 Summit) extends its win streak to four games with one game remaining in league play. South Dakota (3-13-1, 2-4-0 Summit) has a pair of home matches remaining to close out the regular season.

Five minutes into the match, redshirt-freshman midfielder Kellee Willer put the Coyotes on the board with a floater from 40 yards out. As the ball dropped under the crossbar, yet above ORU goalkeeper Ryliegh Bohnenstiehl's reach, Willer tallied her first collegiate goal.

Oral Roberts striker Alexia Herrera tied the match in the 76th with a toe-touch in on the line. Teammate Tahlor Lyman fired off a bending shot from the left side of the box and South Dakota sophomore goalkeeper Parker Rytz was scrambling for the save when Herrera finished it off.

Golden Eagle striker Sierra Beall scored the game-winner in the 79th minute with a shot to the lower right corner of the net. Beall added another goal in the 85th minute to seal the game with a cross set up by Lyman.

Oral Roberts controlled the attack, leading in shots 24-5. Willer had a pair of shots-on-goal and sophomore striker Sammie Villwock placed one of her two shots on-target.

Rytz grabbed five saves in the net with help from Coyote defenders junior Brittney Baker and junior Katelyn Floysand each tallying a save in the box as well.

South Dakota wraps up the regular season with a pair of home games next weekend. The Coyotes host Omaha at 3 p.m. Friday and Fort Wayne at noon on Sunday.
