SAN DIEGO—
Yvon Minogue was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and
Madison Frain allowed one earned run in six innings of work to lead South Dakota to a 5-3 win against Texas Tech of the Big 12 Sunday on the final day of the Campbell/Cartier Classic hosted by San Diego State.
Frain (1-3) allowed three hits in pitching the Coyotes (1-9) to their first win of the season. She was relieved in the bottom of the seventh by
Rachel Cue, who recorded the final three outs for her fourth collegiate save.

Katie Cochran reached base in all four at bats and came around to score three times. Minogue drove her in with a ground out in the third inning that gave USD a 2-1 lead.
Jamie Holscher scored Cochran with an RBI single in the fifth that made it 3-1 and Minogue followed suit with an RBI single for a 4-1 lead. Minogue doubled and scored on a sacrifice fly by
Brooke Curtis in the seventh that gave USD a 5-2 advantage.
Texas Tech (4-9) scored an unearned run in the seventh inning and had the tying run on first base when Cue got Karli Hamilton looking to end the game. South Dakota outhit the Red Raiders 9-4.
Curtis was the Coyotes' leading hitter in San Diego, going 4-for-10 with an on-base percentage of .462 in five starts. Minogue was 5-for-14 with a team-best three RBIs. Shortstop
Shelby Keil was 4-for-12.
Frain earned three starts and pitched 18 1/3 innings at the Classic. She had four strikeouts and opponents batted just .235 against her with one extra-base hit.
South Dakota returns to the Golden State next weekend for a tournament hosted by UC Davis in Davis, Calif.
