DAVIS, Calif.—UC Davis pounded out 13 hits and scored 11 runs in the first four innings to get past South Dakota 11-1 Sunday at La Rue Field on the final day of the Aggie Invitational.
The Aggies (7-6) scored four runs in the first, two in the second and five in the fourth during the win. Megan Salazar was 2-for-2 with two doubles, a walk and three RBIs. Leadoff hitter Brianna Warner had three hits, stole three bases and scored three runs. Catcher Katie Robertson was 2-for-3 including a two-run single in the first.
UC Davis pitchers Leah Munden and Justine Vela combined for the four-hitter. Munden (5-3) pitched the first three innings and earned the win. An RBI double by
Yvon Minogue in the third inning plated the Coyotes' lone run.
Minogue hit .471 (8-for-17) with two doubles and three runs scored in five tournament games.
Brooke Curtis was 5-for-14 (.357) with two doubles and a homer.
Jessica Rogers hit .333 (4-for-12) with a home run and two RBIs.
South Dakota (1-14) next competes Friday thru Sunday in Orlando, Fla., at a tournament hosted by University of Central Florida.
