Hayley Dotseth powered the Coyote offense as she led the team with 13 kills as sophomore
Anne Rasmussen led the defensive effort with 26 digs to push the Coyotes past the Western Illinois Leathernecks 25-11, 25-17 and 25-18.
Who Stood Out
Dotseth recorded her 10th double-double of the season with 13 kills and 13 digs. Juniors
Kristina Susak and
Taylor Wilson both added to the Coyote offense each tallying eight kills. Senior
Brittany Jessen added five kills and ended the night with 29 assists.
Alongside Rasmussen's 26 digs and Dotseth's 13, sophomore
Elizabeth Loschen added nine digs as Jessen recorded eight more.
For the Leathernecks, Shalyn Greenhaw led Western Illinois with seven kills and 12 digs with Emilee Dechant right behind with five kills. Defensively, Claire Grove also recorded 12 digs as Shiah Sanders recorded 10 more.
Turning Point
After taking the first two sets, the Coyotes battled back and forth with the Leathernecks in the third. A kill by Dotseth set up by Jessen would give South Dakota the lead 11-10, and there was no looking back from there. South Dakota would go on a 14-8 run and take set three 25-18 with Dotseth recording four of her 13 kills in the final run.

"We served really well, and we played good defense," head coach
Leanne Williamson said. "I thought Britt set the ball really well tonight and got all of our hitters involved. Anne was also very focused tonight in the back court and came up with some big plays for us in big moments.
"Any time you can win on the road, especially in three sets, you leave feeling very satisfied."

- Western's Steckler came into tonight's match fourth in the league in hitting percentage with .332. South Dakota kept her to a .125 hitting percentage tonight (3-2-8).
- Wilson's eight kills marks a season high. She ended the match with an impressive .319 hitting percentage.
